Who doesn’t like to get pictures? Well, it is a new way to stay in touch with people near or far. It offers a chance for a little more privacy in your pictures. In essence snapchat is a social networking app that allows you to take pictures and write or draw on them. You are then able to send them to any of your friends who have snapchat. As long as you have an android, iphone, or an ipod touch you too can have snapchat. However, for this instructional you must have an android phone and already have the app downloaded.
Taking a picture
1. Find something to take a picture of.
2. Using the snapchat camera:
a. To take a picture there is a big circle button in the middle at the bottom of the screen.
3. Toggling between cameras:
a. To move between cameras there is an arrow button in the upper right hand corner.
Writing on the picture
1. In the bottom left hand corner of the screen, after you have taken the picture, will be two buttons. Use the button that is closest to the middle.
a. Double click on the button, which will make a line you can write on appear in the middle of the screen.
i. You can move this line anywhere up or down.
ii. Your message will then be typed on that line.
1. Maximum of 50 characters.
Drawing on the picture
1. Drawing on pictures is a little more creative than writing on them. It offers you a chance to get some color in the snapchat.
2. To draw on a picture you simple click the button in the upper right hand corner, after you have taken the picture.
3. Changing the color:
a. After you have chosen to draw on the picture a line will appear on the right side with a line of colors to choose from.
Adding Friends
1. This is one of the most confusing parts of snapchat.
2. On the home screen, which is the camera before you have taken a picture is where we will need to be.
3. In the lower right hand corner a box will appear with lines across it.
a. A toggle menu will then appear, with three choices, choose find friends.
b. After you have clicked find friends, it will automatically find friends based on your Facebook and people who have added you as a friend.
Taking a video
1. Start by getting back to your home screen
2. The process is the exact same as taking a picture, however instead of just clicking the big circular button, you will hold it down until your video is over.
a. Maximum of 10 seconds for a video.
Sending a picture
1. After you have taken a snapchat or a video, the last step is sending the video.
2. The send button is located in the lower right hand corner.
3. Your contacts will then appear after you have hit send.
a. Scroll through your contracts and place a check by the ones whom you which to send your snap chat to.
b. The final step is clicking the arrow in the lower right hand corner to send your snapchat.
